Derek & Rebecca

Derek a native South African and Rebecca, a Texan, met in 2000 while doing their DTS with Youth With A Mission. Before coming to South Africa, they served at Teen Challenge in Swaziland, working with students who struggled with various addictions. Derek led a team of young men who traveled and ministered in schools and churches and Rebecca ministered to women caught in prostitution and drug addictions.

The last four years they have served at the Lighthouse Children's Shelter where they care for children who have been orphaned or abandoned because of HIV/AIDS. They currently facilitate a feeding scheme in the village of Phokeng where children living in child-led homes come and receive a warm meal after school each day. Their vision is to empower believers who will affect the destinies of their cities, their nations, and the world. True discipleship is the burden of their hearts and through mentoring and spiritual parenting, they hope to see transformed students who go from glory to glory in intimacy with the Father, who display his character and nature and who walk in his power..

DTS Leaders:

Matt & Angela

Matthew & Angela got their first taste of YWAM while doing their DTS's in 2000 and 2003 respectively. They later both attended the SOSM with YWAM in Taiwan where they were also married in October 2003.

In 2004 they moved to Jacksonville, FL where they would spend the next 3yr. working as the Assistant Directors of Discovery Missions. Their main focus was serving the local church to help facilitate and run short-term missions trips to locations all over the world. The purpose of these trips ranged from evangelistic outreach to mercy ministry. In all Matthew and Angela helped facilitate some 50-60 trips to Asia, South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Towards the end of 2006 they began to feel the Lord leading them in a new direction. When they received an invitation to join the YWAM Rustenburg Base staff, they knew this was where they were meant to be. So after a year of preparing Matthew and Angela moved in January 2008 to Rustenburg, South Africa where they joined the YWAM Rustenburg team. Their heart has always been to disciple others into a deeper relationship with Christ and a life sold out to Him. Serving in this capacity they are daily working towards fulfilling that call upon their lives.

DTS Staff:

Sanel Nolte

Sanel was born and raised in Bloemfontein, South Africa and did her DTS in Blantyre, Malawi, in 2007. Since then she has served with YWAM Rustenburg as staff on the Discipleship training School.

Her passion is to see the kingdom of God established on earth as it is in heaven and to see the body of Christ equipped for the work God has called them to. Her vision is to see a School of Intercessory Prayer established where people can receive deeper training in spiritual warfare, prayer and worship.

Tebogo Tlhagale

Tebogo was born in Itsoseng, Botswana, and completed his DTS in 2007. He has worked with Watch the Nations, an intercessory prayer ministry, where he did outreaches to Namibia and Mozambique and has also worked with Iris Ministries before joining as staff at YWAM Rustenburg.

Tebogo has an incredible heart to serve and is always a pleasure to have around. His desire is to see ministries and missionaries become more self-sustained through farming cattle, chickens and vegetables.

Carly Christiansen

Carly Christiansen is from southern California and completed her DTS in the beginning of 2008. Carly’s has a heart for the nations and would like to take the gospel into countries that are spiritually dark and resistant towards His presence. She has a passion for youth and young adults and would like to see those young people who come from difficult and broken backgrounds be restored to wholeness.
